Asus Zephyrus: God of Ultrabook Gaming!

Gaming laptop

Asus recently announced the ROG Zephyrus at Computex 2017 and it is a MONSTER! It is the first of the many upcoming laptops featuring Nvidia's Max-Q Technology. The Max-Q technology provides more efficiency and performance than before. The laptop is distinctive and unique in terms of design with sharp edges, a creased lid and pushed forward keyboard.

The keyboard has been pushed way forward to increase cooling area, while some may take some time to get adjusted to, it looks pretty neat. Well then where did the trackpad go? Hopefully they didnt think that gaming laptops do not need a trackpad anymore and remove that. It's been strategically placed at the right end of the keyboard. Dang! they didnt put a Numpad. Fear Not! Tap a button and Voila! Heres the numpad.

At just 16.9 mm thickness, this laptops sports a quad core Intel Core i7-7700HQ, 8 GB GTX 1080 (with Max-Q Technology), a whopping 24 GB of 2400Mhz DDR4 memory and an ultra-fast 1 TB NVMe-based PCIe SSD. The Zephyrus is designed in such a way that it get's maximum cooling. The Active Aerodynamic System, drops down part of the laptop's underside and raise's the whole laptop at an angle which reveal's the hidden exhaust vents (very creative Asus!).

This is one of the first laptops to have a 15.6 inch IPS display which runs at 120Hz, added with Nvidia's G-Sync Technology. Although it is only a FULL HD (1920 x 1080) screen, it displays the full 100% of the sRGB color gamut. Other features include Asus's Aura RGB back-lit keyboard which can be tweaked with the pre-installed software. Even with such a slim profile, the Zephyrus packs a USB C port, four USB 3.1 ports, a HDMI port and a 3.5 mm headphone and mic combo jack.

With such monstrous specifications and a professionally slim design, the Zephyrus can actually be called the God of gaming laptops. For those looking to lighten up your fat wallets will have to wait till June 27, when Asus will launch the GTX 1080 variant. Asus will also launch the GTX 1070 variant sometime in July 2017. The GTX 1080 variant is going to cost you $2,699 (roughly Rs. 173,452) while the GTX 1070 variant is going to cost about $2,299 (roughly Rs. 147,746).
