Yu:Yuphoria; Budget Phone With a Difference

The Arrival of Chinese manufacturers like the Xiaomi had the local smartphone manufacturers to 'back-off'. Others like the Lenovo brings up top devices like the A700 or K3 Note in the market. It was a high time when the Micromax Yu decided to bring the cool budget smartphone - Yu Yuphoria. The phone looked great and appealing to a lot of customers. The question is will it be able to take over other budget smartphones like Redmi 2S, A6000 or A7000. Let's take a deep look into the phone...

Form Factor

The Manufacturers have done a great job in the making of Yuphoria. The phone is very well designed and is sturdy too. The phone is built on a metallic frame with an innovative design content.It is curved at the corners that make the device 'hold-able'.The phone has got matte finish at the rear. Two colors are available for the device White/Gold, Black/Silver.The camera at the rear gives the device an out of the class look.The phone also houses 3.5mm headphone jack, universal charging port etc.

Performance

The Yu Yuphoria is a decent performer in its price. The phone houses a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 1.2Ghz Quad core processor with an Adreno 306 GPU. The Device is supported by a 2GB Ram which is unique in a Smartphone at such a price.Even Redmi 2S or Lenovo A6000 has a 1GB Ram.Yuphoria has 16GB internal Storage which can be expanded upto 32GB. 

Phone runs on Cyanogen OS 12 on top of Android 5.0 Lollipop. The elder Yureka receives regular updates on OS and we can expect the same from Yuphoria. There is a dual SIM option in the phone.The 2230 mAh battery equipped with Qualcomm Fast charging technology juices up the device.

The device shows up decent scores in the benchmark tests.According to the Scores the Yuphoria stands in the same category as other phones in the class.

Display and Camera

The phone  has a 5.0" Capacitive touch display. It is an HD display with 294ppi pixel density and has a laminated glass coating. I also has very good viewing angles. The Corning Glass 3 protects the screen from scratches and smudges.

The camera has a 8 MP sensor with Omnivision OV8865 sensor of aperture f/2.2.The front camera is a 5 MP fixed focus camera.The rear camera can record 1080p videos.The camera clicks decent daylight pics,but lacks in indoor photography.Camera quality is good but lacks that perfection especially some noise while taking pictures of complicated scenes.

Verdict

The Yu Yuphoria is an above average budget phone that does much more than what you pay. The phone can run high end games like Asphalt 8 or Dead Trigger 2 at medium graphics settings.At a price tag of Rs.6,999 it is a good deal especially for the 2 gigs of Ram. 'Yu' re sure gonna need it...
