Xiaomi Mi NoteBook Air: The First Laptop By Chinese Tech Giant Xiaomi!!

Laptop

After the long list of rumours and leaks, The Chinese Tech Giant known for their budget-friendly High performance smartphones has now entered the PC category, with its first ever Laptop: The Mi NoteBook Air. Sporting an All Metal Body it is said to compete with Apple’s Macbook Air series.

The Ultrabook will be available in two sizes, a 12.5 inch version priced at CNY 3,499 (approx. ₹35,300) and the 13.3 inch variant priced at CNY 4,999 (approx.. ₹51,400). Both feature a 1080p display with slim under-glass bezel and still managed to fit in a 1 MP webcam, backlit keyboard, 2 USB 3.0 ports, a USB type C port, a HDMI port and a 3.5mm headphone jack (NO Ethernet port!!!).

The 13.3 Flagship variant is just 14.8mm thick and weighs only 1.28kg even though it is powered by a Sixth Generation Intel Core i5-6200U Skylake-U processor (dual core, base frequency at 2.3GHz, turbo up to 2.7GHz) along with an NVIDIA GeForce 940MX GPU (with 1GB GDDR5 VRAM). You also get 8GB of DDR4 RAM, 256GB of SSD via PCIe and one free SATA slot for expansion (but only serviced by Xiaomi). The 40Wh battery should be able to give at least 9.5 hours of work time and it can go from zero to 50 percent in just half an hour using the bundled USB-C charger. The smaller 12.5 inch variant is even slimmer at 12.9 and lighter at 1.07kg compared to its sister device. But you will have to scrape along with an Intel Core M3 processor, no dedicated GPU and just 4GB of RAM with 128GB SSD via SATA alongside a second SSD slot. It claims to give two extra hours of battery life than the 13.3 variant.
Xiaomi is also touting the laminated display which reduce glare, edge to edge glass protection and the unlock support with the use of a Mi band 2. Apart from the full sized Backlit Keyboard and 1.3mm stroke depth it also boasts the AKG dual speakers, and Dolby Digital surround sound. Users can also make use of the Mi cloud sync provided by the company to seamlessly sync between your smartphone and Laptop.

The Mi Notebook Air will be launching in China on August 2 in two colours (Gold and Silver) and there is no information about Global availability as of now. Well are you excited about the new Laptop in town?. Stay tuned for more updates.
