Between the years 2010 and 2017, smartphone industry has experienced tremendous competition from all corners of globe. Little did the prominent manufacturers expect a Chinese brand to lead the industry within a decade. The Xiaomi had its own plans to an overwhelming headstart despite tight competition.

Xiaomi entered the Indian competition in the Q1 of 2014.Xiaomi came with a best in class smartphone the 'Mi3' at a price of 13k rupees.During this time, customers had the choice of choosing over single core or double core coupled with 1 GB of ram. Xiaomi came in with an offer no one could resist, a snapdragon 800 with 2 GB ram at the same price point.

Xiaomi introduced the flash sale technique for smartphone market in India. Xiaomi Mi3 got sold out in seconds for about a month.

Soon Xiaomi released Redmi 1S,a budget phone for 6k rupees. Xiaomi could know the requirement of an average Indian. Soon Indians started loving Xiaomi devices.

In 2015 Xiaomi released their new device, Mi4i with its launch event in India. It could also convince people to purchase their wearable device, the Mi band. Within a month Facebook trolls had taken over the smartphone market stating the pros and cons of leading brands like Samsung and Xiaomi.

Currently Xiaomi is the 5th largest manufacturer of smartphone. It has also unlocked the achievement of smartphone brand with maximum growth rate. In 2017, graph shows a growth rate of more than 56 percent while apple and Samsung remains at 10 to 20 percent.

Xiaomi claims to be selling smartphones at price a bit higher than cost in the bill of materials. Xiaomi also saves a huge sum in advertisements by taking advantage of the social media. You can find reviews and unboxings of Xiaomi devices all over thet internet.

Recently Xiaomi has released their Bezel less smartphone, Mi MIX 2 to counter the recent entry apple iPhone X.MIX 2 is sold at a price of 36000 Indian rupees, while iPhone costs around 90k. There is no doubt that Xiaomi is the people's smartphone, enabling common man an access to high end devices.

Hope other manufacturers learn from the success of Xiaomi and name sufficient changes in their business model. Till then, let Xiaomi reign...
