Asus R558UQ: Best Laptop under 50k

Budget laptop

The bigger, badder brother of the R558UR is here, Welcome the R558UQ. Even though Asus is a fierce competitor in the Ultrabook department, they haven't forgotten about their budget friendly line-up. The R558UQ is a daily device which can handle most day to day operations and some amount of gaming.

The big base supports the 15.6 inch FULL HD screen and sports Intel's 7th Gen i7 7500U or i5 7200U processor along with 8 gigs of RAM which is expandable upto 12 GB. For gaming purposes, the laptop has 2 GB of Nvidia GeForce 940MX and Intel's Integrated HD Graphics 620. 1 TB HDD is available to store all your movies, music, games and other stuff.

Even with a slim profile, they have integrated all essential connectivity ports. VGA and LAN ports, an HDMI port to connect to bigger displays, USB 2.0 and 3.0 also a USB Type C port (Good move Asus!). Headphone jack and SD card reader are also present, it also has an Optical Drive (When's the last time you used a CD?).

Although the keyboard is decent with average pitch and travel, it is really easy to get used to. But sadly, the keyboard is not Backlit (Sorry Night Owls!!). The keys are well spaced so that you dont have to worry about smashing the neighboring keys.

The R558UQ is really soft on your wallet as it costs just below Rs 50,000. Even though the build quality is not the best in class, the performance is absolutely amazing, good battery life and price tag makes this laptop a deal breaker for professionals who want their daily chores to be taken care of. The R558UQ is available in 4 eye-popping color's matte golden, glossy dark brown, red and dark blue.

Before finalizing your buy, do checkout the R558UQ's competitors. The Lenovo Ideapad 510 and Dell Inspiron 5000 series 5567 notebooks. They are worthy competitors with an edge in some areas which the R558UQ lacks.
